Public speaking and presenting are two soft skills that are extremely important. The reason why they are so important is because they advance an even more important skill and that skill is communicating. Communication is defined as the imparting or exchange of information or news. Which in today’s society we use communication skills every day and for most of the day.

One of my classmates Justin Wieder explains how “communicating effectible with others and being able to speak to multiple people at once can allow you to gain the most from negotiations and trade”. This quote is explaining how with good communication skills your business can thrive because you gain attention and respect from your peers and coworkers. But good communication does not just come from public speaking.

Being a good communicator also includes many other soft skills including and not limited to writing, non-verbal, personal, and listening. The first skill writing although is not spoken it is a form of communication so if you can effectively write something down and communicate it to someone then you will be able to give a speech or presentation about it. Non-verbal communication that is advanced from good skills in communication including our gestures, facial expressions, body language, etc. Then you have the communication skill of personal skills this is the way you improve your self-esteem and build confidence by becoming more relaxed the more you communicate giving you a positive outlook on life. The last of the most important communication skills is listening as you communicate more your active listening skills advance and you are able to decipher messages making it easier to fix your own communication skills. When people communicate 45% of the time is from listening. These are only a few of many skills that make communication an extremely important skill to know and understand.
