A good presentation is a great way for new and existing businesses to attract customers and sales. For Claire Lew the CEO at Know Your Company a 12,000 employee business public speaking has become second nature. From this she has been able to attract new customers to the business by selling her idea through speeches. The company found out that from there sales 47 percent where coming from marketing while a large 38 percent came from public speaking events. So why was this the case?

Claire Lew first realized that this is how you “get in front of your customers”. When you market inside the company you are not directly giving the message to your customers. Instead you end up almost guessing what your customers’ reaction to the advertisement, billboard, logo, etc. might be. At one event that Know Your Company supports every year is called Owner Camp and is run by the Bureau of Digital Affairs. At this event Claire and her employees annually have sold their product to two to seven different company all from just speaking and seeing their target market. Another advantage is you build trust “At its core, selling is about trust” said by Claire Lew. This is true no matter how or what you are selling to your customers. In your everyday life there is probably no product that you would buy if you did not trust it in one way shape or form. So from public speaking you are able to get a personal connection with your audience and build their trust leaving you in a good situation to sell even more products.

So what is the cost of public speaking for a business? For Claire it is the time you cannot just get up and do a speech you have to prepare learn about who your audience is and get ready. Depending on the speech this could take a couple days to prepare or even a week or two. But without doing this a person could deal with even more anxiety and stress during the presentation. In conclusion for what it costed Claire Lew to do these public speaking events it was well worth it in the end for her company and the employees.
