If you work in Healthcare & Life Sciences (HCLS), Dreamforce — Salesforce’s signature conference — had some exciting announcements for you! I was fortunate enough to attend the event earlier this month, when nearly 40,000 people converged in San Francisco to drive consumer engagement forward.

Before I get to new features and capabilities, what resonated most with our HCLS team is Salesforce’s continued focus on creating trust with their customers. Most importantly, they are striving to put customers like you in a position to create more trust with the patients, clinicians, and constituents they serve. How? By helping you focus on the business of care delivery, member management, drug development and launch, device creation, and so much more.

Advanced technology integration

Anyone who followed Dreamforce knows that AI and data were the stars of the show. What exactly does that mean for us in HCLS? One of the most exciting things given the buzz around AI and GenAI is Salesforce’s commitment to build advanced technologies directly into its HCLS-focused products. Integrating AI directly into the core platform will enable better clinical decisions, faster drug development, and more cohesiveness across clinical, medical, and operational teams to drive better health outcomes and save more lives.

Consider the world of precision healthcare. Integrating ML-based MRI or PET scan analysis allows accelerated diagnosis and treatment initiation for oncology patients. To manage the complicated orchestration of cell and gene therapies, AI-enabled alerts could help ensure the vein-to-vein process is rigorous and timely, enabling greater positive clinical outcomes for patients.

Building trust through first party data and personalization

In addition to the focus on AI, we saw a huge opportunity for you and your company to use the data you already own to build trust. Salesforce highlighted the work that Slalom did with VillageMD using Data Cloud and Marketing Cloud to create more personalized relationships with patients. Provider organizations can build trust by showing they know and understand their patients’ needs through personalized outreach. All HCLS businesses have use cases that could be brought to life with Data Cloud and Marketing Cloud, and — fun fact — Slalom is currently the #1 HCLS Marketing/Data Cloud partner for Salesforce! (Not to mention the #1 partner in the Americas across all products.)

Life Sciences Cloud and the future of CRM

We would be remiss not to mention Salesforce’s “biggest” HCLS announcement: Life Sciences Cloud, a full suite of capabilities intended to support the severance between Veeva and Salesforce by fall 2025. While we know there is more to come from Salesforce in terms of product announcements in this space, we at Slalom have been thinking a lot about future possibilities since the Veeva announcement earlier this year. We believe now is the right time for your business and IT teams to re-envision your future with this host of new Salesforce capabilities. After all, you will spend capital dollars no matter which platform you choose. Don’t you owe it to your reps, clinicians, and patients to imagine and fully explore the “art of the possible” as opposed to just preparing for a lift and shift?

In closing, it is an exciting time for HCLS and technology. We are very excited about Salesforce’s investments and announcements and continue to be bullish about Salesforce’s place as an integral piece of your overall business architecture.
