After getting some insights from the interview with John Zimmerman, we determined the most important points within our family context, which became the five “How might we” statements blow.

  • How might we ease transition into bedtime?
  • How might we create meaningful moments during bedtime routine?
  • How might we make good parenting decisions easier?
  • How might we stimulate / facilitate communication around long-term parenting goals?
  • How might we provide opportunities for both parents to be involved in bedtime routine?

With the statements, we had an energetic brainstorming producing a number of ideas — plus lots of fun!

After done this, we found some categories by organizing them according to the similarity of ideas or technologies: App/Notifications, Storytelling, Games, Smart Space, Smart Objects, and what we called WILD CARD.

Six possible solutions were revealed by integrating the categories with our statements again. As a next step, we decided to draw a storyboard of each possible solution in order to watch how the solutions work within the given context as well as to look for a chance developing the solutions.
