Kanye West, Yeezus (2013)
Def Jam
Designer: Joe Perez, DONDA

Kanye West’s Yeezus was released in 2013 to a lot of hype and no promotion. Promotion was as minimal as an artist like West can get, featuring no major single, no pre-orders, and, most impressively, no album artwork.

Yeezus was a middle finger to promotion and the artwork, or lack thereof, was an integral part of that. After releasing My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a few years prior with changeable album artwork, Yeezusincluded nothing but a red sticker on the side and a sticker with credits (in white type) on the back. The digital edition of the artwork is simply a CD case with the red sticker affixed on the side, while the physical edition also includes a Parental Advisory sticker. The sticker on the side has different colors depending on the territory.

The artwork was handled by Joe Perez and Kanye’s design team, DONDA.
