Walking Route: Pembrokeshire’s Dale and St Ann’s Head

A 7-mile stroll around some of Pembrokeshire’s most stunning coastline

The Pembrokeshire village of Dale overlooks Milford Haven and, let’s be honest, its oil refineries. However, DO NOT LET THAT PUT YOU OFF. On a gloriously sunny day, of which Pembrokeshire seems to have several of, this is an absolutely stunning walk.

It has stunning scenery, stunning views, stunning wildlife, and stunning history (more of which later).

And because it’s a circular walk around the headland, I reckon it’s nigh-on impossible to get lost, which means you can spend most time enjoying the view rather than having to stop every ten seconds to check the map. (But do carry one with you, just in case).

This route starts at the public car park in Dale (charges apply — when I did this route in April 2024, £6 covered me for most of the day, and it was the best (and only) six pounds I spent that day).

From the car park (Grid Ref SM810058), leave the entrance, turn right and follow the road round to the right. There is a field on the right.
