Society May Not Be Interested In Your Boundaries, But You Should Be
Give yourself a minute
It has been a difficult week for the world. Who am I kidding, it’s been a difficult few months. Maybe even few years.
We are headed towards major shifts in the way that we live. Shifts in our cultural norms which can no longer sustain our frivolous lifestyles. Shifts in the way we work, which is no longer clear cut and reliable. Shifts in our inner disconnect, which can no longer bear our loneliness.
Shifts.
And as we are well aware, shifts are never easy. Change is difficult, because it forces us to meet with discomfort, and face it — finally. Like an old friend, that we forgot was actually a friend.
Change is the most predictable thing we can expect right now. So we should adapt accordingly.
To allow for change to take place, sometimes, the best thing to do is to take a step back and do less. Speak less, buy less, socialize less, and integrate more.
Everything is changing, and we need time to take in all these changes as they arrive. We probably won’t be afforded the luxury of time that we think we need, but even a small moment of intentional pause is better than a total disregard for our inner needs.
