How to Request USPS Priority Tape

The United States Postal Service (USPS) conveniently provides us with free boxes of various sizes, both at the post office and online, but did you ever notice that packing tape is not readily available? I recently discovered the best way to obtain the Priority packing tape is by calling them.

The phone number to order your free packing tape is 1–800–275–8777. Before you do this, note that this tape can only be used on plain boxes that are mailed via Priority Mail, NOT on USPS Priority boxes. Perhaps they limited the tape availability because people were abusing it. When I called for my tape, the customer service agent asked me why I need it. I explained to her that I am an Amazon seller and often mail out mass amounts of items. She emphasized the fact that it is illegal to use the tape on anything other than plain boxes and any boxes that are not Priority Mail.

If you do not want to go through this hassle and just need a little bit, you might be able to beg your local post office clerk for a roll. However, if you need more than just a roll, calling the number is your best chance. You can still order other free USPS supplies online at https://store.usps.com/store/results/shipping-supplies/_/N-7d0v8v

Happy mailing!
