BRANDfog’s Top 20 Healthcare Leaders on Twitter

It’s a tumultuous time to be a leader in the healthcare industry. There are a myriad of changes taking place that have to be addressed, including the Affordable Care Act, government mandates, emerging technologies, wearables and 3D printing, mobile healthcare apps, and balancing the convenience of digital tools against concerns about privacy and security, just to name a few. As pharmaceutical and healthcare companies race to keep up with these issues, some leading voices have emerged on Twitter that are adding valuable insight and thought provoking commentary on many critical healthcare trends.

BRANDfog’s 2015 list of The Top 20 Healthcare Leaders on Twittershines a spotlight on some key leaders and thinkers who bring a fresh perspective to this rapidly evolving industry. Although this is certainly not an all-inclusive list, it is a good starting point for those who would like to find leaders in healthcare to follow on Twitter. The list includes a cross section of industry leaders that use social channels to engage in lively, interesting and engaging conversations about key industry trends in healthcare. We also included influencers who have something important to contribute to the larger conversations happening within the healthcare industry. There are some well-known leaders like U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, and industry journalists like Abby Goodnough, who covers healthcare for the New York Times, but we also included some “under the radar” individuals that you may not know were active on Twitter. In choosing these leaders, we sought those with a rich, insightful Twitter feed. Our selection criteria were Twitter feeds containing original content, graphics and video, an interesting point of view, and a vision for the future of healthcare.

This list is far from comprehensive, so please feel free to send a direct message with any recommendations for our next list to @annmcharles on Twitter. The field of smart, social-savvy healthcare industry leaders continues to grow, so we will revisit and update this list in six months.
