This week has been a Soup2Nutz Society support week for Able Machines. If this is the first time hearing about Able Machines from me, I invite you to go to an article I wrote earlier in the week about the band and the album below.

Songwriter/producer Linus Dotson and singer/songwriter/actress Tay Côlieé created an album steeped in intimacy — lyrics, production, and branding. Each song is a musical conversation about a moment, and these moments stack into a larger picture of authenticity and artificiality in the ongoing battle of self in relationships. As streaming services don’t foster the experience of album purchasing and focused listening from yesteryear, Able Machines rage against the status quo and offer the listener a full-fledged immersion into their world. For the uninitiated, it is a move both appreciated and refreshing.

The complication created from this immersive experience is recommending single tracks away from the whole. So, for those unfamiliar with Able Machines, I recommend listening through the full Pathological album the first time.

You cannot help but become enamored with Côlieé’s voice. With her delivery and the accompanying music videos in which she is the lead actress, you feel as if she is speaking directly to you. And, more frequently than not, these conversations are taking place at night in some austere location. Along with The Collective, the crew tried to create a playlist with the Able Machines as the backbone. We wanted to create a personalized atmospheric intimacy for long night drives alone, or late-night hangs with friends or significant others. You can tap in at the playlist below.

We hope you have blared Able Machines this week, will continue to blare them, and dig the weekly mix.
