Getting schooled by your own pets on things you’re supposedly good at is the least you would expect.

That just happened to me.

As writers, we tend to focus a lot on developing the technical aspects of our skills. We get too absorbed in it and forget about the other side of the equation that makes our beautiful stories possible: our selves.

Even in writing, there are nuggets of wisdom we can all learn from our pets. They’re not really profound, game-changer type of lessons that will shoot your writing to the stars— but being mindful of them will not only make us better writers, maybe even better persons as well.

From my fur kids to you, here are those five pup-inspired lessons we can all use as writers:
