The Red Dot or the Red Bindi is worn by Indian women in the middle of the eyebrows; the point which is also referred to as the third eye.

For thousands of years, even the Indian men have worn the tilak in the middle of their eyebrows.

The point where the red dot or the tilak is placed is also referred to as the third eye.

Significance of a Bindi

There is a greater significance behind putting the tilak or wearing the Red Dot(Bindi) in the middle of the eyebrows.

In the olden days, when the consciousness of the people was very high, they understood that it was important to keep one’s dhyaan or attention on the third eye.

They knew that attention is everything.

Let’s understand this with an example.

You are playing with your child in the park. Suddenly you heard someone scream. You looked to the right while your child was just running towards you into your arms. Now because you did not pay attention, your child bumped into you.

Hence the concept of mindfulness came into the picture.

Many Saints, throughout our history, have drawn our attention towards the concept of mindfulness…
