And Then All the Women Wished They Were Lesbians

I had a bitter revelation this past weekend.

A friend dragged me to a pajama Pride event at 7:30 AM this Sunday morning. Sound odd? It did to me, that’s why I half-heartedly accepted, low-key hoping she would change her mind just because… well, we weren’t gay, neither of us had pajamas, and it was just so horribly early for Sunday.

Tough luck. We went.

I woke up at 6 AM, put on some makeup and a silky dark blue robe with peacocks, as I didn’t have any decent clothes that would serve the pajama theme.

The event was a gathering in a quaint little book shop called ‘The Two Owls’.

Considering how small the place was, it was jam-packed with a mix of quirky colorful people, mainly women and mainly straight.

The event was centered around *Catherine, a famous local actress with a strong presence and inspiring life. She would talk about Pride. And about pride. What it means to her. How she feels about it. What it’s all about.

Eighteen years ago, Catherine and a few other actors started a small independent theater group that would turn out to be wildly successful.

Every time they play, the place fills up to the brim. Like most successful endeavors, this one was also born out of love. Love…
