Turn It Up To 11. (Again?)

“The band’s getting back together”

Wait, what band? (Read the below first)

Years ago, I launched a record label (Double Threat, now known as Architecture Records) so that I can release music by some of my favorite artists, such as Bomb 20. What turned into a passion project (I was a schoolteacher at the time) moved into more of a side-job. I was selling records (a compilation, a few CDs,and a 12" vinyl record by major label artists) and had an artist or two on “tour”. Plus, I was releasing music of my own and appearing on an album or two.

Lately, I've been getting the urge to resurrect Architecture Records. This is both a good and bad idea.

It’s a good idea because music is my first love. I need it to get me through the day. The feeling of hearing the words spoken/sung by your favorite band makes the blood flow., and I sometimes like to imagine myself fronting that band.

It’s a terrible idea because no one buys music like they used to, which is unfortunate because there are so many amazing musicians that deserve the credibility and visibility.

So, back to this “band” thing.

Years ago, I used to record music as Leaders Never Follow. Let’s just say it was more drum n’ bass and electro than what you’ll most likely hear on the radio or at clubs today. I had DJ’d a few times in New York City in the early 2000's with a number of other musicians (most who were signed to small, independent labels but were well-known in the music scene), but that was as far as it went.

Lately, I've been coming up with a number of song ideas and writing the occasional lyric on some pieces of paper. My life has been funny, and I definitely want to document what I've been feeling. This is not going to be an electronic music project. I think it'll be more of a mix between Ryan Star and early Third Eye Blind, and maybe with a hint of Depeche Mode (just because).

When I release something, you'll hear it here first.
