Recognizing the People and Projects building cool things in Crypto

If 2017 was the year we thought Blockchain can revolutionize this and that, 2018 has become the year the innovators truly came into their own and started the BUIDL movement.

Through the BUIDL weekly newsletter, we are going to recognize the individuals and projects in the Blockchain space truly taking the BUIDL movement forward via their contributions.

Here we take a look at some of the projects and tools unveiled in the last month that have grabbed our eyeballs the most:

1. Burner Wallet

A creation of Austin Griffith, Burner wallet enables easy exchange of value through a mobile browser in 5 seconds.

Users can even send cryptocurrency through messaging services like WhatsApp with a simple link!

This is a very important step in the adoption of cryptocurrencies as the learning process of using cryptocurrencies is very steep. The easier we can make the first steps, the easier it will be for crypto to find its first billion users.

The Burner Wallet runs on the xDai sidechain from POA. Since it is in DAI, a dApp can simply refer to amounts in USD. Plus, block times take 5 seconds and gas costs are virtually abstracted because they are so cheap and paid in DAI.

2. Convergent

Convergent is a project that empowers you to launch your own cryptocurrency in order to build your own personal economy. The tokens are distributed through a Continuous bonding curve model to ensure that this personal currency represents the market value of your future time, work or attention and that it is instantly liquid despite low volumes.

3. Goerli Testnet Launch

A brainchild of Afri Schedon, Goerlii is a cross client Proof of Authority test net.

Currently, there are many Ethereum test nets available for experimenting with smart contracts and deploying decentralized applications before going live on the main Ethereum network. However, there is no testnet available that is both widely usable across all client implementations, and robust enough to guarantee consistent availability and high reliability. This is what Goerlii tries to be.

4. Waffle

Waffle is a framework for writing and testing smart contracts.

Waffle is aiming to replace Truffle. It is aiming to be simpler, faster and easier to learn and use. However, it only focuses on testing and not on creating applications.

5. The ERC20 to ERC20 TokenBridge

The ERC20 to ERC20 TokenBridge launched by POA Network allows users to transform ERC20 tokens from one EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) based blockchain network to another EVM based network within the user’s wallet. Tokens are locked in one network, and a representation of them is minted on the other network.

Users can store, exchange, and spend these tokens using any ERC20 compatible wallet.
