To answer this question, let’s first start with a few definitions:

1) Prism

noun \ ˈpri-zəm \

In optics, a prism is a transparent optical element with flat, polished surfaces that refract light. At least two of the flat surfaces must have an angle between them. The exact angles between the surfaces depend on the application.

Not to be confused with “PRISM” which is a code name for a program under which the United States National Security Agency (NSA) collects internet communications from various U.S. internet companies.

2) Input/Output (I/O)

[in-poot — out-poot] Computers.

In computing, input/output or I/O (or, informally, io or IO) is the communication between an information processing system, such as a computer, and the outside world, possibly a human or another information processing system.

Prism Labs

Just as a ray of light is greater than the sum of its parts, so to are the organizations of the future which will align the incentives between their employees, customers, partners, and community members.

With Prism Labs, we are setting out to build tools that build on the principles of the Blockchain, namely:

Networked Integrity, Distributed Power, Value as Incentive, Security, Privacy, Rights Preservation and Inclusion.

At its core, Prism Labs will build tools to help the organizations of the future evangelize, educate, build, incentive and grow their talent networks and communities to help spark movements around them.

Many experiments have been conducted, but it is still early days.

Our beliefs

Great products spark movements. Movements are driven forward by communities. Great organizations need strong and vibrant communities in order to survive and thrive.

  1. We believe that the structure of the firm is changing and that the organization of the future will look and feel very different than the modern structure we know today.
  2. We believe that the lines between a firm, its employees and its customers are all blurring at once. In the future the distinction between and employee, a customer and community member will blur entirely and the definition of ‘ownership’ will have to take on a new meaning.
  3. We believe that the best products will be driven by a collaboration between different stakeholders and direct participation amongst them.
  4. We believe that there will have to exist new protocols, workflows and tools for an organization to more effectively interact with its surrounding community to accomplish its stated goals.
