Announcing The Spike Lab Young Innovator Fellowship

The Spike Lab is thrilled to offer its second annual fellowship to recognize and support high school students in the US and internationally who have launched impactful “Spikes” (ambitious passion projects). This year, rather than offering the fellowship exclusively as a merit scholarship for college, the two selected student winners will be able to claim the award either for tuition or as funding to grow their projects.

Details:

  • Award: Two winners, each winning $1,500. The scholarship award also includes two 90-minute coaching sessions with a founding team member to discuss future goals and how to take winners’ Spikes to the next level.
  • Deadlines: Applications close April 30th, 2019 at 11:59pm EST. Winners will be contacted in early June 2019.
  • Who’s eligible: Any 9th through 11th grade high school student worldwide who has built something impactful and plans to attend a US university after high school graduation. Teams of students are also eligible, but the award will be split between the students.

This scholarship is intended to help impassioned high schoolers who have completed Spikes either attend their dream US college or scale their Spikes into something larger. We define a Spike as being an ambitious project of great personal import that creates real-world impact and showcases a high level of expertise. A Spike could be anything from writing a novel to starting a small business to spearheading a city-wide street clean up. Really a Spike could be just about any project built from the ground up out of sheer passion and hard work. Students without any adult to sponsor them can reach out to have a conversation with us in order to be considered. Once sponsored, students will be contacted with additional information about applying for the scholarship.
