Comedy is my escape. I spend a lot of time in the car, and music just doesn’t click for me anymore, but comedy sure does. For whatever mood I’m in, there is a comedian I can relate and listen to.

I wanted to take the time to highlight some of my go to comics and what skit is a good one to get acquainted with the type of humor they each have.

This list is in no specific order, except for the first one. He is my current favorite comic.

Disclaimer: These are not my views but the views of the creators. There are explicit language and situations described in the below videos.

Tom Segura: “The First 48”

As stated in the intro, Tom Segura is my favorite comic. The way he describes his interactions with people and his delivery will always make me laugh. “The First 48” is a great one to show his edgy humor and his interactions. This was a tough pick to make for me; he doesn’t have a stand-up that I do not enjoy.

Donald Glover: “Home Depot”

Donald Glover may not be known primarily for his stand-up, but I think that’s a mistake. His stand-up “Weirdo” is on Netflix and is a must watch for any comedy fan. He brings tremendous energy to his act. I chose this skit since the main point of it was once you grow up, Home Depot is a store you like to go to. As a recent homeowner, when he says Home Depot is where your childhood goes to die, I couldn’t agree more.

Ben Bailey: “Road Rage”

Anyone unfamiliar with the show Cash Cab, basically host Ben Bailey drove around a cab through the busy streets of NYC while hosting a game show. I watched many episodes and often wondered how this man kept his cool while dealing with city traffic. Well if this story is true he didn’t always keep his cool and did exactly what everyone dreams of doing in traffic.

Tyler Boeh: “Jury Duty”

If anyone has gone to jury duty then you can relate to this. He touches on the fact that, after seeing the “group of our peers”, we may want to rethink our system, and he could be right. Take a listen and see how crazy people really are and this is a jury of our peers? What a system.

John Mulaney: “Why Buy The Cow”

I have a love-hate relationship with John Mulaney. He has a very whiny voice — so be ready for that — but a lot of his sets are great. This one is relatable for so many. He touches on relationships and marriage through the dated term “why buy the cow if you get the milk for free?” This is easily my favorite by Mulaney.

Chad Daniels: “Prepared For Daughters First Period”

As a man, I will never understand what women go through every month. Also, as a man — and if I have a daughter this would be me — I like to over-prepare, and this is over-preparing to the extreme. Then the interaction for the return… priceless.

Hannibal Burress: “I’m Not A Boxer”

I had a hard time picking my favorite for Hannibal. The way he delivers his jokes is not for everyone, but for me, it’s perfect. I love wasting my time on the internet, and that’s how this joke starts, and then it just turns into a great description of professional fighting and how a fight would go with him involved. This one has a lot of moments that I quote regularly.

I’m always looking for new comics and stand-ups to watch and listen to. If you have some comics I should listen to let me know on Twitter. I’m @Big_Broons. If you want to know more comics and skits to check out let me know that too, I have plenty more.
