Summery Execution

It’s June — and the internet is awash with summer style advice. So, we’ve cut through, and pulled together a cheatsheet — the only style hacks you need this Summer.

1. Start with your feet

Nothing speaks Summer more fluently than the right choice of footwear. Three categories to consider: For the bold, try some Espadrilles in a summer print. We love the Toms pictured here. For a more traditional Nantucket vibe Quoddy boat shoes, hand-stitched in Maine, simply can’t be beat. And finally, your white sneaks never look better than under the midsummer sun. Regular readers will know about our weakness for Common Projects — or try these from New Balance.

2. Show some ankle

If the Italians ever owned this look, they long since exported it to the rest of us. If you are going sockless — and you should, when the temperature spikes — put in a couple of turn-ups to make it look deliberate. Confidence improves any look.

3. Switch up your Belts & Straps

Swap a plain leather belt for something braided to dial in a causal summer feel — try these by Andersons or Brydon Brothers — and (assuming you’re not ‘looking after your watch for the next generation’), switch your watch strap for some bold Nato stripes.

4. Replace those Sunglasses you lost

You always look better in sunglasses. We think these are worth a little investment — even if you do lose them once a year. Good lenses make a world of difference. We’re huge fans of these classic styles from Bailey & Nelson.

6. Rediscover Linen

On a truly hot day, you will marvel at the difference linen makes. And there’s something about the lived-in look you’ll achieve by about 4pm that oozes effortless style. If money is no object, you should buy your shirts from Emma Willis. Back in the real world, try these, from our friends at Beaufort & Blake.
