We’re big on cycling at SPOKE, logging at least 50 miles a day between us – so this Autumn, in what is rapidly becoming an annual event, we’ve put together a run-down of well-tested kit for your commute…

Refine your daily ride with these:

  1. Bulletproof Chinos, by SPOKE

We designed our Bulletproofs to handle the toughest commute. Cut from a water-repellant, Swiss stretch-fabric, we’ve hidden a gripper strip in the waistband, and drawn a fractionally longer back-rise, to keep you tucked in. We’ve even finished them with high-vis trim, so you can stay visible when you need to. The last word in commuter trousers.

2. Pickwick Backpack, by Brooks

Better known for their legendary leather saddles, Brooks England also make a range of great looking city bags with some neat technical features. This roll-top backpack has space for everything you’ll need for a day at the office. Not cheap, but it’ll last forever.

3. Mondial, by Rapha

Arresting photography and insightful writing in and around the world of road cycling.

4. Lanterne Rouge by Max Leonard

We hear enough from the winners. What about the 99% who don’t win? What about the bloke who comes last? Lanterne Rouge tells the forgotten (and properly funny) tales of the last man of the Tour de France.

5. Tool Kit by Silca

Smart enough to take pride of place in the man cave, portable enough to take with you on your travels.

6. Foldable Helmet by Carrera

Ever wished your bike helmet took up less space? Then this is the one for you. Ok, so don’t expect to fit it in your pocket — but you’ll squeeze it into your laptop bag.

7. Rain Jacket, by Beeclo

A hi-vis cycle shell, with advanced nanotechnology fabric on one side, turns to wearable lightweight city jacket on the other. Perfect marriage of form and function.

8. Beeline

Where’s the fun in being told exactly where to go? This modern take on the compass swaps turn-by-turn directions for a simple arrow which points towards your destination, letting you decide which route to take. So simple, so clever.

9. Classico Road, by Condor

This bike is the epitome of retro cool — but if you want something a bit more high-tech, Condor also build jaw dropping steel & carbon bikes. Head over to their central London HQ to build your dream machine.
