Do you know what mental abuse means? Maybe not many of you know about mental abuse means. Some of you may only be aware and know about physical abuse.

Mental abuse is where someone is mentally hurt, which can be a verbal words and tends to destroy the victim’s mind. It’s different from physical abuse, because the act of physical abuse can be seen directly while mental abuse’s effect is invisible.

Mental abuse tends to influence a person’s mindset which makes this individual feel inferior, hopeless, worthless, and unworthy.

This is very dangerous, because when someone feels hopeless and feels worthless they will experience severe depression that may lead to suicide.

Example of a mental abuse:

1. Bullying

2. Body shamming

3. Mental abuse in a relationship

4. Excessive pressure given by the family

5. Excessive pressure given by the surrounding environment

usually mental abuse happens a lot in a relationship. As for some characteristics if the relationship occurs mentally abuse:

1. punishment

giving punishment in a functioning relationship so that first person can control the second person

2. force to choose

a mental abuser will force you in a situation that requires you to choose

3. do not respect privacy

a mental abuser will ask for all the privacy you have

4. damage things

a mental abuser tends to destroy items that matter to you.

5. Curb

a mental abuser can curb you from activities they don’t like.

So if you experience these characteristics, it is certain that your relationship is an unhealthy relationship. therefore, don’t be afraid to leave the unhealthy relationship.
