Things I Am Thankful For

With Thanksgiving yesterday, it’s made me really think of all the things I am thankful for. To be honest, at first there was just all the crap that was going wrong that made it impossible to see the things that I am grateful for. But when I took a step back and really thought about it, I have a lot to be thankful for.
- Most of all I am thankful for a kind, patient, loving husband through all of the trials of my illness. He listens to me complain, rant, and even cry, but he is always there to talk it through with me and despite it all, he loves me.
- I am so thankful for my amazing Fur Baby Sandy. When we rescued him, he rescued me. When he is not in fight mode, he is very loving and sweet. He loves to run around chasing a laser which never fails to make us laugh. He sleeps in the funnies positions that make us just stare at him wondering how he can sleep like that.
- I am very grateful for my amazing Aunt Kristy. She has been struggling herself with her illness but never fails to try and brighten my day and I try my hardest to do the same for her and let her know she is loved. She has helped me so much lately as I try and deal with the new symptoms and problems that have been coming up as my illnesses progress. I absolutely LOVE HER!!!
- I am grateful for the little things like warm and comfy blankets that I can wrap myself in when I am cold.
- I am grateful for the little things that make me smile so big when I feel sad. Like these adorable Rainbow Unicorn Slippers Of Awesomeness I got tonight.
- I am grateful for my “Grandma Hug” that my Grandma made for me and I will include pictures below, of course! When my Grandma was battling Breast Cancer, she made these “Grandma Hugs” for each of her many many grandkids. They each are long strips of a blanket, with pockets on both sides so you can wrap it around yourself and it is like she is there hugging you. They each have the grandkids names, Mine says Karley; and on one of the pockets it says “Love Ya, Grandma” (I folded it in half since it was so long, but you get the idea)
- I am grateful for the small but supportive circle of friends I have that understand what I am going through as they too have illnesses. We spend hours, sometimes even days nonstop talking about anything and everything.
- This kind of goes with what I said above but I am thankful so so much for the “Spoonie” support groups that I have found online that have given me the chance to connect with others who are dealing with illnesses of all kinds and we are all there for each other. No matter what.
- (If you don’t know what a Spoonie is, you can read The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserando and this is what I use as well as others use, to explain why we call ourselves Spoonies.
I have so very much to be grateful for. This is just a very small list of some of the things that I am grateful for.
