6 Changes FC Barcelona desperately need to make

All FC Barcelona fans are heart broken after seeing their team get ripped apart by Bayern Munich at the Champions League this season. After that defeat, one thing is clear. CHANGES HAVE TO BE MADE. As a fan of the club myself, I feel the same. We need change. Let us see what major changes we need to see before the beginning of the next season.

1 — Bartomeu has to resign

We have said this for years and years. But, it has never happened. The board of this club had 5 years to build a winning team. They had good money to spend. But, they let this team stay almost unchanged. The players in this club were left to age. The budget was spent without any thought gone into. All of this has led to disaster of the team we support. Now with the loss we had, it is high time that Bartomeu, the current President, resigns from the club. We have had embarrassing defeats for the last two to three years. But this defeat takes the cake. We can’t wait longer. If we do things will get worse.

2— The Barcelona B players should be given chance to play in the first team

We have a huge pool of young and talented players back in our B team. With the hunger and spirit they have shown to win games, we have to give them a chance to play. We have see players like Ansu Fati, Riqui Puig and Ronald Araujo playing the game and making significant impact. Our team is slow on the pitch and only youngsters can give the needed speed to our team. We can no longer depend on players like Suarez and Vidal to play how they did at their peak. On our B team, we have many notable players, such as Konrad, Hiroki Abe and, Monchu. Give them chance to shine because they can.

3— Bring Coutinho back from loan

We have seen what Coutinho did to us during that Bayern match. With only 25 minutes or so to play, he scored two goals and gave an assist. He is young. He has got the talent. He is a great player. And most notably, he was the biggest signing in the history of our club (In terms of money paid). Loaning out such a player was a really terrible idea. It was done. But we can correct it. Bring him back to this club. And let him play.

4 — Sell Luis Suarez

Suarez was a great player in our club. He was known as the best striker in the world. He was dangerous and deadly for our opponents. But, when we see him play this season, we can see that he has lost all that ability. He has become extremely slow. And when that happens he must be sold. A club does not work with players that were good once. But with players that are good now.

5— Sign a pacey Striker

Let us look at Liverpool FC for a moment. Look at their front line up. They have Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino as their main attackers. They are all fast, pacey and talented. Looking at out front line up, we can say that speed is not something we have. Attackers are called attackers only when they actually attack. Our team needs speed in our front line. Only then can we counter attack and scare the defense of our opposition. We don’t need to spends a $100 million or more on such a player. Salah was signed for less than half of that money. We could sign young players from smaller clubs if they fit the team.

6— Quique Setien must be sacked

I am a Setien sympathizer. The work he has done at clubs like Real Betis and Las Palmas are really notable. He was not give a lot of freedom by the board. However, He lacked one major thing. That is control over the team. He never felt like a leader. He may have had a vision. But he lacked the tools to reach it. Therefore, someone like Pochettino should be given the job of being the coach. As having the control and respect from players is very key for the success of the coach and the club as a whole.
