Christspiracy: a Review of the Controversial Documentary

It started with a question… “How would Jesus kill an animal?”
As a devout and lifelong Christian from America’s bible belt, Kam Waters had long been wrestling with the question, “Is there a spiritual way to kill an animal?”
Within Kam’s Christian community, the phrase “What would Jesus do?” was commonly spoken as a source of guidance in everyday life. Yet it appeared to Kam that there were some huge contradictions between the image of an infinitely loving, gentle and kind Jesus and many of his modern-day followers.
Many of these Christians were hunters and farmers for whom slaughter and bloodshed were an everyday occurrence. How could such a lifestyle be squared with the image of a peaceful and compassionate Messiah?
The quest to answer this conundrum led to a seven-year collaboration with Kip Andersen, maker of the incredibly successful documentaries Cowspiracy, Seaspiracy and What the Health.
