This is me.. and so is this, and this

In the middle distance a Cambodian man cycles past smiling at the camera. In the background people sit and stand looking out over the river.

My favourite film

After Hours is one of my favourite films.

It’s an hilarious and deeply strange comedy about a never-ending night of unlikely mishaps, following a day working at an office job the protagonist hates.

The film explores what it feels like to be stuck in a rut, about what constitutes art, work and fun, and how it feels when everything seems to be going wrong.

I recommend it if you feel stuck and in the mood for something seriously surreal to make you laugh.

This makes me cry

Let Her Down Easy by Terence Trent D’Arby.

To be fair, a lot of things make me cry, even a sad advert, but this song really makes me sob. In a good way.

For the younger me, for my daughter now and for all the young girls, ever. And for the boys and men with the opportunity to do the right thing. Or anyone in love. It isn’t necessarily sad so much as it is tender.

Have a listen if you want to wallow in the emotions of growing up and being vulnerable in love.
