These will appear throughout this essay. All are TV shows or movies that feature other life forms/planets that have influenced me throughout the last five decades.

All my life, I have dreamt of visiting other worlds, other systems, other life forms. Going to Florida should have scratched that itch, but once you meet one Florida man, the exoticness of the experience dissipates.

Mankind has always dreamed of exploring other solar systems, but this ambition is limited by the technology available to us.

Despite significant advancements in space exploration, the propulsion systems we use today are insufficient for reaching other solar systems within a human lifetime.

And this sucks.

Since I have been pondering writing a sci-fi book relating to humans actually leaving the current solar system, due to climate issues (not our current ones; one that is going to occur due to a rogue planet striking Earth a century in the future), I wanted to see what…
