It Could Be the End of America As We Know It.
This is not a rant. It’s an opinion, from a half-American, and you can gladly disagree with me
I hope I’m wrong, and because it’s okay to disagree, lest we forget that disagreement is good and the cornerstone of a functioning democracy.
People often forget that a ‘democracy’ can still function even when it’s not … ask South Africa.
Perhaps we need to re-teach “the art of disagreement” in schools.
My greatest fear is that the population remaining on the planet will all project like-minded and identical thinking. Fearful of being labelled and vilified for alternative thought, thanks to narrow-minded keyboard warriors and social media generally. What a boring place that would be.
Neither is my heading without substance. I’ve lived in and still own businesses there. Atlanta, to be precise. I have children who are USA citizens. I loved my time in the USA. And … I get America.
Nowhere is perfect – my birth country (South Africa), for example, is a disaster. Firstly, because of a white led supremacist Apartheid government and now by a corrupt ANC government hellbent on raping it for personal financial gain.
