I looked fat throughout my twenties. Being overweight caused me back pain and hormonal imbalance. For a decade, I tried various weight-loss methods to no avail. I exercised regularly, ate only plants, intermittently fasted, took cold showers, and more.

Despite my relentlessness, I kept getting heavier and more stressed out. Westerners saw me as thick, but Asians, especially my mom, considered me fat. And that is how I felt.

I had a gut and a moon face. At my worst, I was 30 pounds (13.6 kg) overweight. My big breasts were weighing me down, causing me chronic backache. My period rarely came.

After many trials and errors, I determined that eating carbs and vegetables contributed to my health issues. My life turned around when I switched to a meat-heavy diet personalized for my body. I am now approaching 40 years old. Yet, I look and feel better than when I was a teenager.

When hard work produces no results

The rapid weight gain started in college, likely due to stress and bad cafeteria food. I got obsessed with getting back my pre-college body.
