More Exercise Through Inefficiency

Not saving time for better health

A scene of a woman sitting in a chair, intently studying a To-Do list, set in a cozy and well-lit room that reflects both the chaos and calm of planning.
So much to do today. Chat GPT from my prompt

Is exercise somewhere on your To-Do list? Yeah, mine too. But there is so much to do! Maybe we can make the other chores more efficient so we’ll have time for exercise?

We could do that. Or we could put exercise at the top and if we don’t get to some of the chores, well, there’s always tomorrow, right?

I do it a bit differently by doing my chores inefficiently.

This is how it works. Let’s say our chore list for today looks like this:

  • Clean the bathroom mirrors
  • Make the bed
  • Vacuum the living room
  • Empty the trash buckets
  • Respond to email
  • Exercise

An efficient person might make the bed on the way to clean the mirrors and pick up the bathroom trash on the way out of the bathroom. If they are really efficient, they would bring an empty paper bag to the bathroom and dump the trash in that to save a trip back to the bathroom trash bucket. Then they’d vacuum the living room. Finally, they’d respond to email and if they have time, do that exercise.
