My Mischievous Itch Had Another Twitch
Now I’m wondering how this guy got to be a detective
An old colleague of mine is a Trump supporter.
He kept his right leanings hidden for a long time. There were hints of sexism, a smattering of intolerance, and a pinch of disdain for all things woke. He kept his opinions hidden under the surface for anyone who kept their noses out of his pool.
That changed when he retired.
Emboldened by no longer having to worry about losing his job, he has taken to social media in a more vocal way to express his support for Trump and Trump’s skewed views.
In one of his recent rants, he bemoaned the negative press Trump was receiving. “Why are they always so negative about him?” he asked.
I didn’t reply.
There is no point in replying.
If his interpretation of what Trump says and does is no barrier to his idolisation of the man, what on earth could I possibly say that would change his mind?
However, my mischievous itch often breaches my skin like a midge bite and urgently needs scratching.
