My Son Spoke to My Grandfather

He had been dead for years. I found it a bit unnerving. And yet, somewhat exhilarating

My son met my grandfather a couple of times as a newborn. My grandfather cried when I gently placed him in his arms for the first time. He could not believe we had given my son, his name.

Seth.

He used to say, it is such an old name. I have always loved my grandfather’s name, Seth, and it was a no-brainer to give that name to my son. I adored my grandfather. My only hope was my son would also inherit many of my grandfather’s characteristics.

My grandfather passed away before my son could speak. Or walk. But they had met.

A few years after my grandfather had been dead and buried, my son and my grandfather met again. In my son’s bedroom.

I walked into his room. He was quietly sitting on the edge of his bed, talking. There was nobody else in the room.

I immediately thought :

this must be something from your mother’s side of the family. You nut job.
