It’s been nineteen years since our younger daughter laid out the outline for holiday shopping that we have used ever since. Her genius, inherited from her loving parents, has allowed all of us to complete our shopping long before most of the frazzled masses have even begun.

The details can be found in an older post, but are summed up perfectly by her suggested motto: 2004, Gifts No More.

Every year or so, I think of the joy we have captured by following her wise advice. It’s so simple: don’t buy any gifts for adults. Kids are easy, especially in the age of online shopping: give them a gift certificate or cash. It’s shopping for adults that causes anguish for shoppers and pathetic lies from the recipients.

Oh, socks. Just what I needed.
