What Publication Owners Think When You Reject Them
“Hi! Thank you so much for explaining everything in detail. I concluded this publication is not for me to write. Thank you.”
I’m not talking about all publication owners, this is my experience. You may or may not have felt the same as me. I felt deflated. Dispirited. And somewhat discouraged from running my publication.
Nobody likes rejection. Some people deal with it better than others. That’s why salespeople can earn so well, they have to deal with a bucket load of rejection to become successful.
I’ll run you through how I got that rejection in the subtitle in a minute.
I’m the bottle washer and chief cook for my publication, E³ — Entertain Enlighten Empower. The publication has been running for a year and has five thousand followers — I know, that means diddly squat.
I’ve developed an onboarding system for new writers. They can no longer comment and get added as a writer. New writers are now asked to email their request with a link to their Medium profile.
Note: Having your writer’s email address is useful for providing coaching tips and having a link to their profile saves time.
