Why I Finally Left š• for Bluesky

And why, as a writer, you should join me there

Bluesky grew by at least a million users over the past week. If youā€™re a writer, you should be one of them.

In case you werenā€™t aware, thereā€™s an exodus happening right now. People are leaving š• in droves and going over to where the sky is blue.

Ever since Elon bought Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion, weā€™ve all been grumbling and complaining about how he has been destroying the platform.

Now weā€™ve finally had enough.

For many people, the final straw came when Musk used the platform to help carry Trump to power in the US election.

Trumpā€™s election didnā€™t just terrify Americans ā€” it terrified the entire world.

Muskā€™s support for Trump has been so vociferous, it led to him being dubbed ā€œAmericaā€™s First Ladyā€ after he appeared in a recent Trump family photo, from which Melania was conspicuously absent.

The resulting slew of A.I.-generated images of ā€˜Eloniaā€™ were entertaining, but not enough to make me stay on his toxic platform.

Iā€™ve had one foot out the door for some time now, but it seemed a shame to lose the following Iā€™d built up there (on two separate accounts)ā€¦
