Growing up in West Africa, there has always been this epidemic where people didn’t understand what they were listening to but had no option but to dance.

I also fell for this terrible disease and I loved it.

There was this particular song that came from Abidjan, Ivory Coast that had everyone in a chokehold, and no matter who you were or where you lived, you might have heard this song. “Magic System” sounds like one of the names of the Dungeons and Dragons clan your friend swears it is not “nerdy” right, well you are wrong apart from the fact that their music is as addictive as your “nerdy” friend’s game.

In the early 2000s the song “Premier Gaou” simply translated as “First Fool” could be heard all around Africa and the rest of the world. The minute the guitar riff hits and the drums drop I promise you that your body will be in another dimension. Premier Gaou is a song that has a deeper meaning but because of its melodic rhythm, the meaning of the song was lost. Don’t worry I will drop the song for you to listen to. You’re welcome.

Magic System Premier Gaou Lyric Video

We always get lost in the moment, never getting the true value.

Africa is a continent where we speak more than 3000 languages across the entire continent. We listen to a lot of songs, and as I continue to grow I to grow the more I discover that I have lost a lot of messages in the songs that I have always been a fan of. We, humans, have always been creatures with good listening skills from our Neanderthal ancestors who had listened to the loud growls of wild animals and knew which one to attack and which to run away from.

If our ancestors can be good listeners why can’t we do the same?

As we continue to grow as humans, the skill of listening can easily be lost, and due to our busy schedules and lives, we can also lose paying attention to what goes on around us making us miss what goes on around us.

Once in a while stop and listen or you might miss out on something amazing.

Thanks for reading. Ciao.
