As an editor, I can see the stats for all articles on my publication (except earnings). I’ll share some insights with you.

Medium has a new and improved stats page; they’ve called it a ‘Reach funnel.’ My first thought, ‘Oh, this could be helpful!’ We get to see the number of presentations, views and reads on every article.

Wait, the only real difference from before is that we now know how many times Medium has presented your article to potential readers.

Take a look at this average set of stats:

Presentations 435, but only 23 reads!

“Is that it?” Life is depressing enough without rubbing your unread story in your face, thank you very much. Feed clickthrough 6.9% — how bad is that?
