Saturday Night Live is Back, Here’s What’s New
One of the longest running shows in the history of television and a staple in the world of comedy, Saturday Night Live is returning for its 46th season this October. Though no cast members are retiring just yet, there are some additions that should be noted.
The biggest change, and the one that will be noticed the most quickly, is that former Vice President and Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden will be played by Jim Carrey instead of Woody Harrelson. Carrey will be in good company, alongside Alec Baldwin’s famous Donald Trump and Maya Rudolph’s fan-favorite Kamala Harris. However, Carrey’s impression has yet to be seen by anyone, so it’s hard to know what to expect.
There are also three new featured acts that will make their first on-screen appearances this season, all of which are fairly under the radar, but have found some success as of late and carry a decent fanbase. These include Lauren Holt, Punkie Johnson, and Andrew Dismukes.
Lastly, some members of the cast who are busy working on other projects will be joining in to the broadcast remotely. Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong are the two cast members who have confirmed this, and they will be green screened in for some segments.
