There are several ways to access the Toronto Star content digitally. All of the news content is updated regularly and flows through the site and app the same way but there are some differences in how you access it and how it ends up getting displayed. The ePaper is a bit different. It is a digital replica of that morning’s printed paper. It is not updated through the day, but is literally linked images of each page of the printed paper. Here are some details and examples of how to access the news the way that best works for you. Remember to sign in.

  1. Visit thestar.com online.
This is also what we call the web version. You can access this version by using your desktop or laptop computer, your tablet or your phone, opening a browser like FireFox, Safari, Chrome, or maybe Microsoft Edge and typing in thestar.com.

2. Download the app and read the news on your phone or tablet.

Your digital access also gives you the option to read the news using our app. Some people prefer to do this because of xyz reasons

To download the app, using the browser on your phone or tablet, go to the App Store (for Apple devices)or Google Play Store (for Android or non Apple devices) and search for Toronto Star.

the left side is what you see in the App Store using mobile phone and the right side is tablet view

(You might notice the option for Toronto Star ePaper. We’ll get to that in #3. )

Once the app is downloaded and you are signed in, this is what you should see:

In this example, dark mode is showing on the mobile phone version on left, the right shows tablet version using light mode

3. Toronto Star ePaper

As mentioned above, the ePaper is a digital replica of that morning’s printed paper. Some people prefer to read the news this way. It’s the same news, but displayed differently. Similar to the web and app options of the digital content described in the first two sections, this product can also be viewed using a browser or an app. Note: the ePaper uses a different log-in system than the web that is not connected.
