Every entrepreneur knows that the skill sets of the founding team are essential for the company’s growth and is something every investor takes a keen look at.

The core founder is usually the visionary of the team. The one with the idea who pushes the rest to stay on focus on the long-term vision.

But some entrepreneurs make the mistake of thinking that the only other person they need on their team is the tech guy. Which let’s be honest is crucial for any tech company to succeed.

But there are two other roles that are essential for your startup to get to your long-term vision efficiently.

1. The Guardian of Money
The burn rate for startups is the highest it’s been since the 90s. Don’t know what the burn rate is? Then you are probably not the moo-lah guru in your company. The burn rate is the amount of money a company is willing to lose to grow their business. And if you didn’t know, it means you need to get a financially savvy guy on board your team soon. A person that accesses the viability and profitability of the company is key so that you don’t spend money that you don’t have and to make the most of the money that you can afford especially in the growth face.

2. The Customer Whisperer
End users are a common denominator for every business including B2B companies. Users are your revenue source and thus a team member focused on user experience is essential for a company’s success. Ensuring that each of the user touch points is friendly, intuitive and more importantly solves a customer’s needs is essential for a company to differentiate themselves from being a potential unicorn or the 9 in 10 that fail.
