Weird growth hack: Using social media
In this social media era, it has truly become something we can’t shake off. We’re always surfing Facebook and waiting for updates, scrolling on Instagram posts, or tapping story after story.
And this can be good news for entrepreneurs if it’s made use properly! Don’t have time for events to capture your target audience? Fret not, just slip in something into their hourly finger workout!
A trending post with a policeman stopping the roads for Mama duck and her ducklings to cross the road? Cue to slip in your products!
For example, if you’re selling a door stopper, repost this meme on your company’s account and add a little twist to sell your product. “For you Mama ducks at home, get your own ‘policeman’ for your door.” Well, I’m not a creative director, but you get what I mean.
Another hack is to @mention celebrities with mass followers.
This will be a little more tricky as they’ll be flooded by many other mentions. But what happens when your post catches the A-lister’s eyes and manage to get a retweet? BOOOOOM. Your company’s name just appeared in millions of people’s feed. There definitely wouldn’t be a 1-to-1 conversion rate, but I’m pretty sure that’ll get you at least a 2-digit increase in the number of customers (assuming it wasn’t a negative response you get from the mention).
It may not be easy to gain celebrities’ attention when they’re so popular, but since it’s free anyway, just give it a go! An extra tip: mention those that tweet a lot and frequently reply to their fans.
