The Problem

Finding high-quality talent is both challenging and potentially expensive. Because of this, entrepreneurs routinely struggle to hire smart and driven executive assistants, causing many college students to miss out on opportunities to gain real-world career-related experience.

What the Company Does

Through Apprentice, an entrepreneur can find a motivated college student to work for them, giving the student access to valuable work experience and world-class mentorship in exchange for their help. Apprentice functions by finding the best match possible between the two parties and continuously training the college-student apprentice through weekly classes and group calls. Apprentice monitors hours and pays the college-student apprentices accordingly.

Market

In America alone, there are over 25 million entrepreneurs and 20 million college-students, yielding a potentially massive market size. Competitors in this space include Zirtual, Double, and Clear Desk. Apprentice is unique because they facilitate strong and direct relationships between the entrepreneur and college-student apprentice that can have a lasting impact on both sides.

Business Model

Apprentice has a fee-based approach, charging clients $499 per 20-hour block or $1,999 per month.

Traction

In their first year, Apprentice has acquired over 20 customers and generated over $150k in revenue. They currently have roughly 35 students participating in the program and a 5% student acceptance rate. So far this year, two apprentices have launched businesses of their own, including one that is co-founded between the entrepreneur and their apprentice.

Founding Team Background

Apprentice was co-founded by Rob Berk and Dave Kerpen after Rob served as Dave’s executive assistant as a freshmen in college. Berk previously founded Solvit, which provided online customers a wide range of digital services. Kerpen is a serial entrepreneur, having founded companies such as Likeable Media & Likeable Local.

What They Need Help With

Apprentice is looking for introductions and exposure to potential customers, entrepreneurs and business leaders. Connect with the Apprentice team.
