The Problem

Every year, 250,000 men and women leave the military with deep, rich experience and strong leadership skills. However, they struggle to land jobs that reflect that experience and compensate them for their skills. The main reason for this is because they’ve never had an experience that most of us take for granted; they’ve never had a job interview before.

What The Company Does

Candorful is changing that dynamic. The team has developed a live video platform to match our military with experienced volunteer interview coaches from industry for realistic, face-to-face job interview practice. By providing this service over the internet (yet live and face-to-face), the team has over 40 coaches from all over the US who can help our military community from wherever they are whether that be Virginia to Hawaii or actively deployed in Japan to Afghanistan.

Business Model

Candorful is currently getting off the ground with grants from corporate partners and foundations but we are moving to relationship based referral fees with our corporate partners.

Traction

Candorful has provided well over 1,000 practice interview with transitioning military, veterans and military spouses. They also have a team of over 40 volunteer interview coaches actively providing interview practice via our platform. They are partnered with many transition programs such as Hiring Our Heroes, USO Pathfinder and FourBlock. Finally, the team has pitched at MassChallenge Boston Semi-Finals and won their spot in MassChallenge Boston 2018, Patriot Boot Camp San Antonio in 2017, MassInnovation Nights #131, MassInnovation Nights #120, MIT VMS Mentors Event in 2019 and MIT JWEL.

Founding Team Background

Candorful is led by Co-Founders Pat Hubbell and Pete Sukits. Pat is a former engineer, management consultant and Cornell MBA career advisor. While at Cornell, she created a platform to match Cornell alum with MBA students interested in practicing mock interviews. Pete is a former US Army Captain that transitioned to become a finance manager at two fortune 500 companies. Pete knows about the military transition experience personally and brings invaluable insight to the team.

What They Need Help With

Candorful is looking for introductions to charitable foundations and potential corporate partners who are interested in supporting veterans and veteran hiring. You can connect with the Candorful team here.
