The Problem

We’re living in the age of personalization. Everything from our smart phones to our social media feeds are 100% personalized. However, there’s still one area that hasn’t been personalized yet: employee perks. Perks are still one-size-fits-all in the age of personalization and frequently fail to meet the preferences and needs of a diverse workforce. In such an employee-favored market, companies that do not account for unique needs of their teams will sacrifice their company’s growth.

What The Company Does

Compt is reinventing the way employers offer perks. When people are able to get what they need, they are able to learn more, grow more, and live their best lives. Compt’s software works by supporting companies to develop perk allowances for their team members. With their approach, companies build perk allowances that go directly into the hands of employees so they can get what they need, when they need it.

Business Model

Currently, the team uses a SaaS model and charge monthly/annually based on employee-count.

Traction

Compt currently has customers in 15 states with employees in 9 countries. At the end of 2019, the team crossed a significant milestone of customers’ teams spending over $1m on the platform, accessing 100% personalized perks. The team has also taken home many honors and awards including bring included in BuiltInBoston’s Best Small Places to Work 2020, being a New England Innovation Award 2019 Finalist and winning the Product Hunt’s Shipping in Boston Award in 2018.

Founding Team Background

Compt is led by Cofounder & CEO, Amy Spurling, who is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of experience in leadership roles at venture-backed companies ranging from early start-up phase through high growth and ultimately exit. Over her career, she held the CFO and COO positions and has closed over ten rounds of financing totaling more than $200M, and managed two acquisitions to close. She was named Boston’s “CFO of the Year” by the Boston Business Journal in 2016. Cofounder Sarah Bedrick serves as the company’s VP of Marketing and brings over 10+ years of experience in SaaS startups. She joined HubSpot in 2011 as employee 200, where she started HubSpot Academy and grew it to hundreds of thousands of people learning sales, marketing, and services strategies.
