The Problem

Seniors are feeling more isolated than ever. We have all seen the videos of grandparents and their loved ones waiving to each other from a fourth story window or trying to play tic tac toe through a pane of glass. Seniors wish to share the story of their lives but don’t best know how. Video chats like Zoom and Skype are fantastic ways to communicate with loved ones, but the conversations often come off a trite. Seniors are looking for greater meaning in the time they spend on these calls.

What The Company Does

The Mylestones digital life project creator guides a senior and their loved one through the story of their life with a 165-question guide. A video call is directed by a loved one and questions like “tell me about your first car” are answered. The application records the conversation and video of all parties. This natural language story is placed into the senior’s life feed to be shared with all parties. The goal is to help the senior create, store, and share the story of their life.

The Market

Mylstones looks to help all 65 million Americans that are 65 years or older with their life project creator. Creating access points to this market is their primary concern at this stage. They find that their service can be licensed to over 19,000 senior living communities and 11,000 home health agencies, allowing access to roughly 10% of that market. LifeLoop, Oscar Senior, IN2L, and OneDay are competitors that are senior focused with a technology solution. However, they all want the senior to adapt to the technology. Mylestones is the only application that puts the control in the hands of the digital native. With Mylestones the loved one controls the tech and the senior narrates the story.

Business Model

The Mylestones application is licensed to the enterprise client and a monthly fee is paid for access to the application. Mylestones charges $1 per month per resident or client of the senior living community or home health agency.

Traction

Today there are 750 seniors using the application to share the story of their life. These seniors come to the company through its partnerships with five home heath agencies and seven senior living communities. Mylestones has also been selected for a number of pitch competitions recently including Healthcare Wildcatter’s Dealmakers, Onramps Connecting the Coasts to the Heartland and MedVentures. In 2020, the team participated in the Capital Innovators spring cohort.

Founding Team Background

Matthew Hansard serves as Mylestones CEO and has been working with the senior generation for years. He now finds it his duty to continue this mission and help them leave the legacy that they intended. Waylon Duff is the team’s CTO and has a passion for both technology and various business aspects. He created his first software company, Field Dalies, at age 20, which went on to service firms in the telecommunication space such as Verizon, Black and Veatch, and Mastec. Waylon loves building teams and technology and wants Mylestones to look and feel as smooth as any social media site.

What They Need Help With

The team is constantly looking to create partnerships with private duty home health agencies and senior living communities. They are also in growth mode and looking for intros to investors. Connect with the Myletones Team.
