SmartLabs is a life science accelerator established to provide research scientists with an on-demand, pharma-grade, research environment.

Mission/Purpose:

SmartLabs provides a fully managed, high-quality private lab and office environment to biotech companies big and small that are looking for space in the Boston area. With state-of-the-art facilities and a top notch leadership team, SmartLabs is here to help minimize any administrative and logistical hurdles companies may face on the way to reaching important research milestones.

History of Organization/Leadership Team:

SmartLabs, formerly known as Mass Innovation Labs, was founded in January 2015 by Amrit Chaudhuri and Seth Taylor, who wanted to help solve some of the pain points experienced by the Boston scientific community by providing an on-demand pharma grade research environment without the hassles of a traditional real estate experience. The Cambridge location houses about a dozen companies, including Cue Biopharma, Sana Biotechnology and Gritstone Oncology.

The Facilities:

Conveniently located in the middle of the most active biotech cluster in the nation, SmartLabs’ Cambridge location has over 52,000 square feet of professionally managed turn key research space. Their modular construction allows companies to move in and grow as needed by cutting down the build-out time to just 1 to 3 weeks from 24 to 42 weeks. All of the environmental and safety compliance, IT operations and facilities management is taken care of so companies can concentrate on the science.

News:

This summer SmartLabs is also opening two new locations in the thriving Boston Seaport area at Innovation Square, and in the New Balance complex at Boston Landing. To schedule a tour of the facilities, please go to SmartLabs.com.
