The Problem

We have all encountered, either as a customer or as a coworker, avoidable errors and inefficient execution in routine service delivery. Both of those waste time and cost money. You know them from everyday experiences of poor service: The bungled service call; The defective device. You’ve seen it in your own organization: The dropped the ball; The missed hand-off. Such avoidable errors and inefficiencies lead to lost revenue, wasted time, dissatisfied customers and frustrated employees.

What The Company Does

TaskTrain lets users define all of their standard operating procedures as multi-level outlines, with each step holding optional embedded training like videos, product manuals, links to resources, and explanatory text. These are then shared with teams via secure Procedure Manuals. Every time the need arises, an instance of the Procedure is assigned. A TaskTrain Assignment is like a work order but with all of the tasks identified and just-in-time training resources embedded. Each Task in an Assignment can have its own assignee, start and due dates, and comment threads, making it easy to track progress and collaborate with teammates without resorting to e-mail or Slack, increasing coordination efficiency and avoiding missed hand-offs.

Market

As a horizontal platform, TaskTrain is useful for many sectors and functions, so there’s an enormous potential market. Any organization can benefit, but in particular, those with many routine but complicated multi-step, multi-worker, manual processes, especially where the impact of error is high. Distributed, under-skilled, high turn-over and/or rapidly growing workforces can especially benefit from the collaborative task tracking and just-in-time training TaskTrain provides.

Business Model

As a Software as a Service application, per-user recurring revenue subscriptions via direct web sales constitute TaskTrain’s primary revenue model. Future opportunities for additional revenue streams include process consulting engagements, value-added partnerships with process consulting subject matter experts in specific verticals and a potential procedure marketplace.

Traction

TaskTrain completed the Venture Café Cambridge LAUNCH pre-accelerator program in 2020 and is now a member of the Startup Boston Inside Track. After exiting public beta, TaskTrain currently working with its first pilot sites as it tests its go-to-market strategy.

Founding Team Background

TaskTrain is led by Keith Gillette, Founder & CEO. Keith is a lifelong learner, process pragmatist and introverted entrepreneur passionate about efficiency, effectiveness, education and economy. Keith is joined by several startup partners in a dynamic equity split: Satyam Tiwary, Development Manager; Kelly Bateson, Social Media Manager; Mary Anna Thornton, Customer Experience Manager.
