Day 1

Singapore is one of the most stunning places that we have ever visited. From the landing to departing it has been a wonderful journey. The first view as we were landing was a harbour which had all kinds of ships and boats, from cruise ships to yachts to small, medium scale boats. It was a great site which will last in our memories.

After landing in Singapore, the first thing that we did after clearing the baggage was buying a 3 day MRT pass (S$30 per person of which S$10 was refundable) and a data card for S$12 which had 100 GB free and unlimited talk time within Singapore for a period of 7 days. It was a great deal since we were there for the exact period and we needed only mobile data. You can buy both these at the airport itself.

We used the Grab Mobile application to hail a cab to get to the hotel One Farrer, where we spent 2 nights. One Farrer was a great deal that we got costing us about S$150 a night. It was a fabulous hotel and the walk to the MRT took about 2 minutes since it was 200m from the hotel. They were nice enough to accommodate us as an early check-in with a room upgrade.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveller because what they offered was valued for every cent we paid. Apart from that, the hotel was conveniently located very close to an MRT station in Little India.

After relaxing for a few hours we took the MRT to see the Gardens by the Bay. It was definitely a stunning creation in the middle of the city and all credit should go to the Singaporean government for maintaining such a thing. The in house waterfalls, The light show and all attractions were magnificent.

Every evening, after the nightfall, there is a musical light show at the Gardens by the Bay. When it's about to start, all the tourists gather around the area awaiting the show to begin. The show lasts for about 15 minutes and is mesmerizing. It reminded me so much of the world of Avatar, with its colourful plants shining in the night. Be sure to check the times of the show beforehand, so that you will not miss it!

We had a wonderful time over there and left the place at around 9:00 pm. The next stop was the Singapore Flyer. The view was fascinating. It’s a 30-minute ride on the flyer, which provides a wonderful view of this tiny city buzzing throughout the night. For the flyer, it costs S$33 per person.

Day 2

Early morning we got up and it was the time to leave to our most awaited attraction, the Sentosa Islands. We had to take two trains from our place but it was rather easy since the station was close by. After getting off at the final station (Vivo City)we had the option to get a ticket for a train to reach the Island or walk that stretch which leads to Sentosa along the Boardwalk. So we opt to walk since the view was tremendous. Cable cars, ships and all the happening places in Sentosa could be seen. It was about 15 mins walk.

After reaching Sentosa, we directly headed to Universal Studios since we have already bought the tickets in advanced from their website. The opening time was 9:00 am and there was quite a lot of people thought it was a weekday. After entering the park it took us to the good old days where we were kids and our childhood heroes were brought back to life. It was a great experience. Sesame Street ride was kids ride but we enjoyed it a lot. The Transformers Ride, Cyclone and Human ride and Mummy Rides were some of the breathtaking rides, which could be more suitable for the people who are young at heart heh. All in all, we had a wonderful time at Universal Studios and it was a memorable day in our lives. As in any attraction, the food and beverages within the Universal Studio premises are skyrocketing and somewhat absurd. Be sure to take a bottle of water from outside and keep it handy. For food, you might have to buy from inside, or step out of the premises and come back (make sure to punch your ticket when leaving if you need to come back)since, outside food it not allowed within.

After completing almost all the rides we took the train back from Sentosa Islands to the main station and headed back to the hotel. Also point to remember all the trains heading back from Sentosa Islands are completely free.

In the evening, we visited the Clarke Quay area. This is a very touristy area along the Singapore River. We took the MRT from Little India to Clarke Quay and walked across the city. Clarke Quay has many interesting restaurants and cafes of which most are open air. You can enjoy a nice meal with the river breeze about you, and the never-ending city’s excitement.

Day 3, 5 and 5

After having a spent the first two days we thought of having a rest on the 3rd Day. Also, we moved to Shangri-La Hotel from One Farrer.

The first impression of the hotel was really nice and the staff welcomed us warmly. The hotel rooms were really nice and it was great to stay at the hotel.

Since we got the rooms from Horizon Club the Horizon Lounge was open to us 24/7. This is a fancy addition to the normal rooms, where we get access to an executive lounge with our key cards. They serve a high tea from 2:00 pm — 5:00 pm and Cocktails from 5:00 pm — 8:00 pm apart from the buffet. It was a great deal since we took only Bed and Breakfast. The Horizon Club also had a place to serve Coffee and other Drinks 24/7. So whenever we were board we were at the Club enjoying the fantastic view from the 24th floor over a cup of coffee.

Can get more information about the Horizon Club from the link below,

The only downside of our stay at Shangri-La was that it took about half an hours to get to the city centre by walking. Though the hotel had a shuttle to the city centre every hour, we missed it almost every time. When we go to the lobby, the shuttle has already left, and the next one was about half an hour’s wait; so we walked. All in all the experience was great, with super-luxury comforts and loads of food, and we had a fabulous time over there.

All of the Day 4 and 5 was passed by shopping since Orchard Street was full of shops which caught the eye of me and my spouse. It was a fantastic experience since all the well-known brands were there. There will be no need to write about the hustling city of Singapore for shopping, as you will know what you want and where to go when you are in Orchard Street ;)
