The Pop Quiz, Monday is a fun little exam that we love to give to savvy business owners. The examination is not a surprise after all since the interviewee already knew about the questions in advance. However, we can always pretend and have fun with the scenario of a young entrepreneur sitting in class nervously biting on their pencil. They are ready to take a pop quiz on a chapter that they were supposed to read the night before. Instead, they played Metroid all night on their SNES (Oops, this was me in high school). The real purpose of the pop quiz is that this is a fun way to introduce business tips from real-world experiences that you can not learn in a classroom. We want to thank our entrepreneur for being a good sport and volunteering their time to answer a few questions to help our community grow from their knowledge.

What is your job role?
I’m the CEO & Founder of MoneySavingPro.com. However, as the business is at an early stage, my role is very diverse. It includes content & SEO strategy, securing new advertisers and managing existing relationships, UX & optimization, project management, managing our PPC, PR, content, design and development specialists.
Tell us about your company?
MoneySavingPro.com is one of the leading price comparison sites in the U.S. that helps consumers save money on their cell phone, internet, and TV bills. We provide tools and independent advice that helps consumers significantly cut their monthly expenses.
What do you love most about your job?
Being in a position to turn my ideas into reality.
What motivates you to get up every day and go to work?
I’m motivated by the prospect of taking on multi-million dollar companies with very limited resources.
How do your co-workers inspire you?
I‘m inspired by working with like-minded people who believe in the company’s vision and whose mix of skills will help us deliver a fully functional service.
How do you have fun at work (team building, pranks, etc..)?
We organize a team day at least once a quarter to help with team bonding. This might include — karting, paintballing, rafting, etc.
What are some of the challenges of your job?
The concept of MoneySavingPro.com originated in the U.K. where comparisons sites are extremely popular. Trying to adapt a business model from another country and introducing it into the U.S. market has proved rather challenging. Another challenge is trying to make people aware of the benefits of comparison sites and the positive impact they can have on their finances.
What are some lessons learned from a past project that you can share with us?
Don’t get complacent, try to learn something new every day and always be prepared to adapt your plans when continuously needed.
What advice would you give to someone who is starting in your industry?
Have a clear vision, think big, ignore the naysayers, work hard and never give up.
