It is You what makes the Idea ‘YOUnique’

Let me take this opportunity to expand some of the thoughts shared in the video with some examples so that you get a better context about Ideas:

Ideas are Plenty; you think others have not thought about it…

I asked a global entrepreneur, why he doesn’t consider expanding to India; he said, If there was a market for my product I would have already been there. What’s the guarantee that others are not thinking about or pursuing the same idea; in a day, I come across 10 people who are planning to pursue a similar idea and each one of them thinking its unique! Therefore, stop assigning a monetary value to your ideas.

Ideas are not Original; they are Derived…

Let me tell you that ideas by themselves are worth no money, forget money, they are not even original in the first place, not even a figment of your imagination but a derivation of thoughts from conversations, surroundings, background, context, observation among many others.

Ideas are not Constant; they Evolve…

Its not like you will stick to the same idea but keep getting more ideas as you keep interacting — therefore it is important for you to keep sharing and discussing, so that you get more thoughts, more ideas and more feedback, which in turn can strengthen your original idea.

Successful Ideas are not necessarily Innovative…

Let’s take real examples of some billion dollar companies which were not billion dollar ideas in the first place: Flipkart and Amazon wanted to sell books online, while Apple, one of the world’s most valuable companies wanted to sell computers and WeWork which wanted to rent out just office spaces. Please note that these ideas may have been simple, not everyone has a moonshot idea like Elon Musk, but it is the uniqueness in execution which made each one of them different.

Don’t Worry — It is YOU what differentiates the Idea…

Here’s a food for thought: if your execution is not worth copying, then it’s probably not worth pursuing! Entrepreneurs do not follow templates, they create templates. So the key is to keep the ideas flowing; no matter what the idea is, you cannot execute it like somebody and nobody can execute it like you. It is ‘you’ what makes the idea ‘you’nique!
