In the Saw movies, bloodshed is nonconsensual. But in real life, the films have saved lives with a tradition of collecting blood from willing donors.

If you’ve ever seen any of the Saw movies — or even one of the trailers — you know one thing about them: There’s going to be blood. That’s a given. The reputation of the Saw movies rests not only on bloodshed, but on it being shed through sadistically intricate deathtraps that test mind and body alike.

What fewer people know is that ever since the first Saw movie shed gallons of fake blood onscreen, each film has been accompanied by a drive to collect actual blood that can be used to save real lives. Together, the Saw Blood Drives have collected over 120,000 pints to be used in surgeries and transfusions.

Jigsaw, the eighth movie in the series, hits the screen this Friday, October 27, and we’re very proud to have had a hand (or several) in making this year’s blood drive happen. Syren Latex provided several custom pieces for the this year’s crop of blood drive nurses gracing the posters. The video at the bottom of the page gives you a quick glimpse of the the progression from the first stages of creation to the finished product, along with a little bit of history.

The posters are extraordinary: We have a lot of experience with medical fetish, and these pictures embody perfectly the mix of desire and apprehension that makes medical play such an enticing and powerful kink. There’s also just a touch of the psychological domination that makes the movies so powerful. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Grae Drake

Known for being very vocal with her opinions about movies as Senior Editor at Rotten Tomatoes, Grae Drake takes on the persona of an angel of the operating room here. Whether she’s an angel of mercy or… somthing else remains to be seen. Syren provided the custom-made cape of latex gloves with a long-sleeve dress (also custom-made).

Nyakim Gatwech

Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech makes a regal-looking nurse in this shot. The nurse cap, fingerless gloves, and dress are all custom-made by Syren.

Mykie

Mykie is a self-taught makeup artist who prides herself on “mak[ing] videos of pretty ugly things.” Here she appears with less gore than in much of her work, but between the blue hair and porcelain skin, her beauty is somewhat otherwordly quality, with just a tint of the sinister. Syren helped with our Little V Dress and a custom nurse cap.

Dan Rockwell

Fitness Coach Dan Rockwell achieves maximum effect with a few simple touches here. The latex surgical mask is a custom item from Syren.
